New Zealand's chief movie censor has banned an electronic game, saying it incites extreme violence. Bill Hastings said the game called Postal 2 allows a player to kill quickly, or kill in a cruel manner. He said it is this distinction that crosses the line, TV New Zealand reported. The theme of the game is "going postal," which in the United States refers to someone who becomes so stressed to become a homicidal lunatic. "The way the postal guy interacts with people is always with violence - either people are provoked when they see him or he provokes the people," Hastings said. The game's creators defend it, saying the player controls the level of violence. The ban comes in the wake of a new report in the United States which says parents are not showing enough concern at how graphic and violent video games have become. Game retailer Campbell Burrowes says banning the game will likely generate more interest in it. © Copyright 2004 by United Press International
