Wall collapse traps Fayette County man

A Fayette County man had to be dug out from a pile of concrete Tuesday morning when a wall collapsed on him.

Charles Lancaster, of Brownsville, and an unidentified man were looking for scrap metal in the foundation of a burned-out residence along Mill Street in Brownsville Township when a portion of the wall collapsed, said Brownsville Borough police Lt. Stanley Jablonsky.

Lancaster's companion summoned help. Brownsville firefighters extricated the man, who was buried from the hips down. Jablonsky said Lancaster did not appear to have any external injuries and initially declined medical treatment, but he was transported by ambulance to Brownsville General Hospital as a precaution.

Lancaster's condition could not be determined. Brownsville General Hospital's policy does not allow such information to be released, said Lori Spina, director of marketing and public relations.
