Wandering boy from Mt. Washington reunited with parents
A 2-year-old boy who wandered from his Mt. Washington home has been reunited with his parents, Pittsburgh police said Wednesday.
At a hearing yesterday in Allegheny County Family Court, Steven Richardson was returned to the custody of his parents, Jennifer and James Richardson, of Sycamore Street, police said.
Steven was found wandering Tuesday morning on Merrimac Street and taken to the city police South Side station. Three hours later, when no one claimed him, the toddler was turned over to the custody of the county Office of Children, Youth and Families. He spent Tuesday night with a foster family, police said.
Jennifer Richardson told police she worked overnight as a waitress and came home at 6:45 a.m. to care for her son while her husband went to work. She fell asleep and woke up around 2 p.m. to find Steven missing.
