A Washington County man has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh to stealing Black Lung benefits being paid to a woman who had died.

John Steven Miller, 40, of Marianna acknowledged that he withdrew $39,470 in benefits paid to Mildred Miller's account after her death in 2000, prosecutors said. Court documents do not state if John Miller and Mildred Miller are related.

John Miller also admitted using a phony Social Security number to secure $165,000 in loans and lines of credit from banks and other financial institutions, prosecutors said. Most of those loans are in default.
