Washington man dies from Hatfield’s Ferry power plant injuries

A Washington man died from injuries he suffered in a fall this morning at the Hatfield's Ferry power plant in Cumberland, Greene County, near the Fayette County border.

The Fayette County coroner's office said Michael Cox, 40, of Washington, died of blunt-force trauma. According to Greene County 911, the incident occurred at about 10 a.m.

Cox was taken to The Uniontown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11 a.m.

The power plant is operated by Allegheny Energy Inc.
