Some student services at Community College of Allegheny County campus on the North Side will be temporarily relocated starting Monday because of the rupture of a sprinkler pipe in the Foerster Student Services Center, officials said.
CCAC spokeswoman Elizabeth Johnston said a pipe near the second-floor cafeteria burst Saturday afternoon, triggering fire alarms. Quick response from workers on and firefighters limited damages, she said.
Johnston said CCAC officials were still assessing the damage. Most of the damage was to tiles, carpeting and computers, primarily to the first and second floors.
Only the center's third floor will be open on Monday. No cafeteria service will be available.
Until further notice, registration and advisement services will be moved to the Courgar's Den in the basement of West Hall, while Student Accounts will be moved to the business office on the third floor of Jones Hall. Students also may register at the Homewood Brushton Center, 701 North Homewood Ave., where additional staff will be on hand.
CCAC staff members will be available on the first floor of Jones Hall to assist students with questions.
