Waynesburg College officials announced Monday that they are changing the institution’s name to Waynesburg University. Founded in 1849, the Christian school offers 70 programs to 2,300 students at its main campus in Waynesburg, and in locations at Southpointe in Washington County, Seven Fields in Butler County and Monroeville in Allegheny County. College officials said yesterday that the Pennsylvania Department of Education approved the name change earlier this month. The university offers master’s degrees in education, business, counseling psychology and nursing.
