The Armstrong School District's West Hills Elementary Campus was officially dedicated Saturday morning with a brief ceremony and public open house.
James E. Gaggini, assistant superintendent of elementary education and pupil services, welcomed visitors in the gymnasium of the Intermediate Building where he thanked many of those responsible for the planning, building and administration of the facilities.
The national anthem was sung by the West Hills Intermediate School chorus, and Sue J. Kreider, principal of West Hill Intermediate School, and Ann Miranda, West Hills Primary School's principal, expressed their pleasure that students in the attendance area will now share a common facility instead of being scattered throughout several elementary and primary buildings.
Frank Garritano, assistant superintendent of secondary education and district programs, introduced school and district officials, and other dignitaries.
Students representing both the primary and intermediate schools were introduced by their principals and presented with ceremonial keys by Hayes Large Architects LLP representative James Thompson.
After additional remarks by Reardon A. Mulroy, director of facilities and properties; Eric D Ritzert, assistant principal of West Hill Primary and Intermediate Schools; and school board President Rose Stitt, Superintendent William Kerr closed the ceremony by thanking those in attendance and inviting them to tour the facilities and enjoy some refreshments.
