The West Newton community honored its deceased veterans during a biennial memorial service Nov. 11 at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, West Newton. The Rev. Michael Milinovich was the guest speaker.

The service, sponsored by the J. William McCauley Jr. Funeral Home Inc. of West Newton, saluted all deceased veterans and POW/MIAs of the community. The Rev. John T. Sweeney, representative of the West Newton Association of Churches, officiated the service. This year marked the 16th time the service has been held to honor the community’s veterans and their families.

Names of veterans from West Newton and surrounding communities who died since Veterans Day, 2012, were called and family members lit candles in his or her memory.
