Another change at the top is coming to Westinghouse 6-12 in Homewood.

Shameca Crenshaw, who became acting principal in November, asked to be reassigned to a different school for the 2012-13 school year, according to Pittsburgh Public Schools officials.

“We expected that she would only be there on an interim basis,” said Ebony Pugh, a district spokeswoman.

A job notice posted Tuesday on the district’s website seeks a candidate who, among other qualifications “must be able to develop, articulate, implement and sustain a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.”

Crenshaw came to Westinghouse 6-12 after a tumultuous start to this school year, which resulted in the district putting two co-principals on paid leave and scrapping single-gender classes that had been introduced only a couple of months before.

Parents and neighbors had predicted problems at Westinghouse, which added grades 6-8 in the fall and began taking students from Peabody High School, which closed at the end of the 2010-11 school year.

Teachers and officials, though, credit Crenshaw with restoring order after a brief period when school police’s citations for disorderly conduct grew.

She replaced co-Principals Kellie Abbott, who has since been reassigned as a curriculum coach rotating among various schools, and Shawn McNeil, who was granted a leave of absence, Pugh said.

Pugh said the district has not decided where Crenshaw will be reassigned.
