An Allegheny County man was sentenced Friday to serve up to 34 years in prison for the violent rape of a Murrysville woman two years ago.

Following a week-long trial in April, Georges Berlin, 51, of North Braddock, was convicted of rape and eight other offenses for the incident at the woman’s home on Oct. 18, 2012.

The prosecution contended Berlin repeatedly beat the woman, raped her and performed other sexual acts on her before she eventually was released.

Investigators said Berlin continued to stalk the woman even as she went to the police station to fill out a complaint against her attacker.

“I believe you are a very dangerous individual,” said Westmoreland County Judge Rita Hathaway.

The judge sentenced Berlin to serve 17 to 34 years in prison and another five years on probation.
