A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted a union official on charges he stole about $35,000 from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Thomas Carrola, 52, of Whitehall, the financial secretary and treasurer for Local 1919, faked lost wage vouchers to withdraw the money from union funds, prosecutors say.

He is charged with one count of stealing money from a labor organization and one count of falsifying a labor organization’s required records. Prosecutors say Carrola could be sentenced to a maximum of six years in prison and a fine of as much as $350,000 if convicted.
