Democrats did not start the war in Iraq, though both Russak and “Fox & Friends” now hold Democrats responsible for a fast plan to fix the unfixable. If Democrats had kept their “mouths shut,” the “stay the course” strategy would have determined our nation’s destiny for the next two years. So realize the current bipartisan effort to exit the grotesque error of the president’s Iraq war is the will of an overwhelming majority of Americans. The president pleads for bipartisanship, then ignores House and Senate bipartisan committees that urge an end to the U.S. occupation of Iraq. He ignores the American people — he’s “the decider.” Lastly, I share a comment a fellow soldier stated recently in a briefing where the speaker reminded his military audience that “America is at war.” “Sir,” the soldier interjected, “the Army is at war — the rest of America is at the mall.” Jack Gordon Sewickley
