Wild Things lose to Southern Illinois

The Washington Wild Things lost, 9-8, to the Southern Illinois Miners on Wednesday at Rent One Park in Marion, Ill.

Tim Dorn scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning when he stepped over the tag of Washington catcher Pat O'Brien.

The Wild Things scored three innings in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game. Washington scored twice in both the seventh and eighth innings. Southern Illinois built a 8-1 lead after six innings.

Chris Sidick, Kyle Padgett, Kyle Werman, and Robbie Knapp each hit home runs for the Wild Things.

Dorn led Southern Illinois by going 3 for 5 with a solo home run and RBI double.

Despite the loss, Washington (13-7) remains first in the Frontier League East Division by 3 1/2 games. Southern Illinois improved to 9-12.

The Wild Things and Miners continue their series tonight at 8:05 p.m. at Rent One Park.

Zac Cline earned his third win of the season and Greg Lasinski got the save for the Sliders.
