H. J. Heinz Co. to sell stronger cleaning vinegar

Pittsburgh’s H.J. Heinz Co. plans to sell a stronger variety of vinegar for use as an all-natural cleaning solution.

The company announced plans for its “Heinz All Natural Cleaning Vinegar” on Monday.

The vinegar will have 6 percent acidity, making it about 20 percent stronger than its traditional white distilled vinegar. It will sell for $3.79 per gallon.

The ketchup and condiment giant has sold vinegar for more than 140 years. Heinz says the more powerful vinegar is ideal for cleaning windows, glasses and laundry stains, and even to flush newer dishwashing machines now that more people are using lower-phosphate detergents.

The new vinegar can still be used for cooking, too.
