A Somerset County woman who used a hairbrush to try to rob a convenience store was jailed after her would-be victim fought back. Lacey Lynn Urban, 19, of 4078 Kingwood Drive, Rockwood, allegedly entered Leeper's Market on Route 31 in Mt. Pleasant Township at 1:50 p.m. Monday and demanded that owner Richard Leeper hand over his money, state police at Greensburg said. When Leeper approached Urban and asked her what she wanted, Urban again demanded Leeper give her his money, adding that she had a knife. Leeper grabbed Urban to detain her, police said. As she was held, Urban took a hairbrush she had concealed in her shirt pocket and made numerous stabbing motions at Leeper. Urban was arrested and arraigned in Westmoreland County Night Court on a robbery charge and committed to the Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bond. She faces a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. July 24 before District Justice Roger F. Eckels of Norvelt. Leeper's Market also was the target of an failed robbery last week. In that incident, a man armed with a knife entered the store around 2 p.m. Thursday before fleeing without taking anything. Police and the Greensburg Fire Department Bloodhound Team searched unsuccessfully for the suspect.
