A British woman has spent two years on the waiting list of a deceased National Health Service surgeon, the London Daily Mirror reported Monday. Janet Warnes saw the doctor at Leeds General Infirmary in 2002. She then had to wait until last month for her appointment to be fitted with a hearing aid. However, when she arrived for her appointment, she was told the doctor had died in 2002. "I was starting to think I might be dead before I finally saw a doctor, but I never expected him to be," Warnes said. She was told the wait to see another specialist at Leeds General could be another two years. The hospital blamed a computer error for sending her an appointment letter. A spokesman said, "We are extremely sorry for any embarrassment or distress." © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
