A woman's body was found Saturday night behind a trash bin adjacent to a roofing company in Munhall.

Though county homicide detectives were interviewing neighbors, they were not ready to say whether the woman, who witnesses said appeared to be in her 30s, was murdered.

Police said they suspect others saw the body before the person who called police about it, because the woman -- who police had yet to identify late last night -- was found lying face down in a heavily traveled area.

A neighbor discovered the body, which was clad only in a white T-shirt and white socks, shortly after 7 p.m. while walking up Flora Street, and called the police, said Munhall Police Chief Pat Campbell. The body was located on a lot bordered by the 2100 blocks of Whitaker Way and Flora Street, which run parallel to each other.

"There are a lot of kids around here," said Lori Jordan, 38, of Whitaker, who lives about a block away from where the woman was found, in a lot adjacent to Hausler Roofing, Inc. "To have this two doors down from here, it's pretty morbid."

"It's a little scary," said Jessica Fratangelo, 18, of Whitaker. Like other neighbors congregated around the crime scene, Fratangelo said the neighborhood is normally a quiet, safe place.
