A woman was injured in an apparent propane explosion Wednesday afternoon at her home along South Pioneer Road in Hampton Township.

The woman, identified by neighbors as Casie Smiley, suffered severe burns to her hands in the blast that shifted the house off its foundation, blew out at least one window and knocked a four-foot section out of the basement wall. She was taken to the hospital but her condition was not available last night.

Authorities believe a propane tank was leaking and that the gas was ignited by a kerosene heater.

Smiley's husband, Dan, and the couple's two young daughters were not injured.
