Destiny's Child opened the World Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles and took home a number of the trophies based on record sales.

Mariah Carey took three awards during the ceremony Wednesday night at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre, MTV.com reported Thursday.

The Killers were named Best-Selling New Group and Carlos Santana was presented with the Legend Award.

The show was taped for broadcast Sept. 13 on ABC.
