Morgantown, W.Va. -- West Virginia junior quarterback Pat White, a Heisman Trophy candidate, has sustained a dislocated thumb on his right (non-throwing) hand and will not return to play in the 100th Backyard Brawl.

White leads the Mountaineers with 33 rushing yards on nine carries and had completed 4 of 6 passes for 30 yards. He was injured with 5:12 remaining in the second quarter, when he landed awkwardly on his right hand. White has been replaced by redshirt sophomore Jarrett Brown, who has rushed for 21 yards on four carries, including a 6-yard touchdown, and has completed 2 of 2 passes for 20 yards.
