State health officials say they have this year's first confirmed human case of West Nile virus in Pennsylvania.

The Health Department said the 27-year-old Montgomery County woman is recovering and has been discharged from a hospital.

The state health secretary, Dr. Calvin Johnson, said the mosquitoes that transmit West Nile virus are most active around dawn and dusk. Among other advice, Johnson said people should consider wearing long-sleeved shirts, long pants and socks when going outdoors.
