The state Public Utility Commission this morning approved a plan allowing Yellow Cab Co. of Pittsburgh to raise its total revenues by almost $1.13 million. Flag drop, increment and waiting charges are impacted. The flag drop will be $2.25 for the first one seventh of a mile instead of the current $2, a 12.5 percent increase. Increment charges will be 8.7 percent higher — 25 cents instead of 23 cents for each additional one seventh of a mile. Waiting charges also will go up to 25 cents a minute, from 23 cents. The company that provides service in Allegheny, Washington and Westmoreland counties said the increase will cover additional operating costs, wages and benefits.
