Young achiever: Akash Levy

Akash Levy, a senior at Pittsburgh Allderdice, won an honorable mention at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

Age: 17

Residence: Oakland

Family: Father, Jeremy Levy; mother, Chandralekha Singh; brother, Ishan Levy

School: Senior at Pittsburgh Allderdice High School

Noteworthy: Levy won honorable mention at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles from the American Association of Physics Teachers. He presented his project, Piezoforce Imaging of Confined Oxide Nanowires, while competing for more than $4 million in awards.

Activities/interests: He is involved in Science Bowl, Science Olympiad and is captain of the school's Robotics Team. He plays ultimate Frisbee for the school team. He composes music and plays piano and has programmed computers since third grade. He will attend Princeton University in the fall and major in computer science.
