Background: Skylar originally set out to raise $50, but door-to-door sales in her Avalon neighborhood soon exceeded that. She sold bracelets at the dance studio where she takes lessons and at an Avalon borough council meeting. She previously collected donations of dog and cat food, blankets and other pet supplies in campaigns for the Beaver County Humane Society.

Quote: “I want them to find a cure so (Skylar's father, Bill, who has Type 2 diabetes) can get better.”
