A Nathan's Famous Frankfurters restaurant is scheduled to open in August in a 3,000-square-foot space in the YWCA building, at 305 Wood St., Downtown.

Operated by a YWCA for-profit subsidiary, the YWCA Restaurant Franchise Inc., will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, and employ between 20 to 40 mostly part-time employees, selected from YWCA clients and the general public, said Magdeline Jensen, chief executive officer, of the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh.

"The idea behind Nathan's is to generate additional income for our programs, since the national economic slowdown has restricted income we previously had received," she said.

The only other commercial facility in the building is the Chinese Mandarin Restaurant, which leases space and pays taxes, she said.
