Alle-Kiski Tuesday takes
Assessment appeals: Allegheny County is thinking of allowing property owners who want to appeal their new assessments to do so by mail or online. That’s good, but why doesn’t the county try some real customer service for its taxpayers? Instead of having every appeal held during “business hours” Monday through Friday in downtown Pittsburgh, why not have some sessions at night? Or on the weekends? Or in the suburbs?
In a tough position: That would be Highlands Athletic Director Matt Bonislawski. “Bones” will soon have to evaluate the job performance of the Highlands girls basketball coach. That shouldn’t be hard, considering the team has won three games in the past two years. But the coach is Highlands School Board member Ron Lang and the board refuses to change its policy, so an employee like Bonislawski is in the unenviable position of evaluating one of his bosses.
Congrats & good luck: The Highlands “competitive spirit” team (Psst: that’s cheerleading) won the WPIAL AA championship and is going for a state championship this weekend. Repeat after us: “Let’s go Rams! Let’s go Rams!”
