Lance: To PennDOT’s traffic-study requirement

PennDOT says a traffic study is required before it will put a temporary traffic light at Old Leechburg and Greensburg roads in Plum. The intersection is part of the official detour around the closed Logans Ferry Road while crews there eliminate an unnecessary bridge. Plum police want a temporary traffic light because there have been six accidents at the intersection since the detour started — three on Wednesday alone. But PennDOT says the borough needs to request a traffic study first. Six accidents in 10 days — what more does PennDOT need to know?
