“Global warming” is getting so bad that weather forecasters say Great Britain is facing its most savage winter in 50 years, reports the Daily Express. Months of heavy snow and bitter Arctic winds are “set to bring the country to a total standstill,” the newspaper says. And the mayhem could strike as soon as next month. Historically low solar activity is blamed. Cold facts are a stubborn thing for climate alarmists. … A new “study” says that burning all of the world’s fossil fuel reserves could warm the Earth so much that cities such as New York, Tokyo and Shanghai would be submerged by rising ocean waters. But as one astute observer noted — as if that “study’s” scenario is even plausible, given that new reserves are being discovered continually — that would take 10,000 years. This is what tilting at windmills gets you, so to speak. Ahem. … “Entwining two rights: Voting and driving.” That was the headline on a Thursday editorial in The New York Times endorsing California’s “motor-voter” system that automatically registers voters obtaining or updating their driver’s licenses. But “driving” isn’t a “right”; it’s a privilege granted by the states. Sigh. … Speaking of California, 52 percent of all driver’s licenses issued there so far this year have gone to illegals. Yeah, you know where all this is headed. Double sigh.
