The Thursday wrap
That revealing University of Pennsylvania website video featuring ObamaCare co-architect Jonathan Gruber has mysteriously been pulled. Mr. Gruber told Penn’s Health Economics Conference in October 2013 that lack of transparency in the law was key to its passage and that “the stupidity of the American voter … was really, really critical to get the thing to pass.” The group known as American Commitments recently unearthed the video. Gruber apologized his week for “speaking off the cuff … inappropriately.” Nonetheless, it shows the depths of deception to which the Obama administration always is willing to stoop. … Former Congressman Joe Sestak, D-Pa., is ramping up his prospective 2016 campaign against Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa. Mr. Sestak released a scathing email attack against Mr. Toomey on Veterans Day that ripped him for supposedly being unresponsive to veterans’ needs. Toomey narrowly defeated Sestak in 2010 in a nasty race that cost about $23 million. Expect the rematch to be nastier and even more expensive. … It’s here! It might have taken a little longer than usual to arrive but the first real cold blast of fall air has arrived. And while the region won’t experience the kind of extreme winter weather that’s been marching across the country, temperatures in the 20s and 30s are a stark reminder of the need to winterize everything from the house to the car to the pets. But surely the cold weather will be a blessing to retailers now rolling out the Christmas shopping season.
