Given the plethora of sites in Westmoreland County to recycle one's Christmas tree, “It's really foolish to put a live Christmas tree in the garbage,” says Ellen Keefe, executive director of Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling. Those recycled trees produce mulch and compost for public properties. Nevertheless, some lazy lunkheads will simply dump their trees, tinsel and all, along rural roadways. Here's hoping more people will get into the post-Christmas spirit this year and recycle their trees.
