According to a 2016 Pew Research Center voter survey:
— Overall, 35 percent of white registered voters identify as independent, while 36 percent identify as Republican and 26 percent identify as Democratic.
— Overall, 87 percent of black voters identify with the Democratic Party, compared with just 7 percent who identify as Republican.
It seems that whites are free to choose their political affiliation but somehow the Democratic Party and black leaders will immediately mock, belittle and denigrate any black person who dares to affiliate with the Republican Party.
If you are black, why does your skin color presume you to be a member of a certain political party?
In the 1970s and ’80s, there was tremendous societal pressure to encourage the acceptance and inclusiveness of all people, regardless of skin color, with the ultimate goal of being a color-blind society. Now, it seems that our objective of color blindness has given way to color awareness.
