After trailing 14-10 at half, Cal (Pa.) (3-2, 2-0) scored 26 points in the second half to upset No. 2 IUP (4-1, 1-1), 36-24 in the 10th annual Coal Bowl.

Nelson Brown rushed for 143 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns for the Vulcans. Brown scored two of his three touchdowns in the third quarter. Quarterback Noah Mitchell went 14 of 27 for 256 yards and one touchdown pass to Chad Livingston in the third quarter.

Lenny Williams led IUP with 169 yards passing and 76 yards rushing, including a touchdown, but was intercepted twice. One interception was returned 100 yards by Lamont McPhatter late in the fourth quarter.

Clarion 19, Seton Hill 16 — Jeff Clemens threw for 268 yards and one touchdown and rushed for a touchdown to lead Clarion (4-1, 2-0) to a win over Seton Hill (0-5, 0-2) in a PSAC West game. Seton Hill had 250 yards passing split between Colton Mitchell (132 yards) and Ryan Barabe (118 yards).

Edinboro 31, Gannon 24 — Andrew Tomko connected with A.J. Turner on a 16-yard touchdown pass with less than two minutes remaining in the game to lift Edinboro (4-1, 1-1) to a win over Gannon (0-5, 0-2). Tomko finished with 244 yards and three touchdowns passing for Edinboro. Walter Fletcher led the Fighting Scots with 220 all-purpose yards: 111 yards rushing and 109 yards receiving. Marcus Jones rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns to lead Gannon.

Slippery Rock 41, Mercyhurst 21 — Roland Rivers threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns to lead Slippery Rock (4-1, 2-0) to a PSAC win over Mercyhurst (1-4, 0-2). Wes Hills led Slippery Rock with 69 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Doug Altavilla went 15 for 31 for 171 yards passing with a touchdown and interception for Mercyhurst.

Slippery Rock finished with 436 yards of total offense while holding Mercyhurst to 267 yards.

Division III

Allegheny 52, Hiram 0 — Logan Lee threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns to lead Allegheny (3-2, 3-1) to the North Coast Athletic Conference victory at Hiram (1-3, 0-3). Tyler Balla rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns, and teammate Alex Victor caught three passes for 121 yards and one TD. Allegheny outgained Hiram, 524-265.

Grove City 31, Carnegie Mellon 21 — Wesley Schools ran 43 times for 223 yards and a touchdown as Grove City (2-3, 1-3) defeated Carnegie Mellon (2-2, 1-2) in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Cody Gustafson caught five passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns for Grove City. Alex Cline paced Carnegie Mellon with 228 passing yards and a touchdown.

Waynesburg 24, Thiel 21 — Tyler Perone threw for 185 yards and a touchdown to lead Waynesburg (2-3, 2-2) to a win over Thiel (0-5, 0-4) in the PAC. Chad Walker rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries for Waynesburg.

Marko Bakovic led Thiel with 133 yards passing and two touchdowns.

No. 12 Washington & Jefferson 27, Bethany 20 — Jacob Adams finished with 266 yards passing and two touchdowns to lead Washington & Jefferson (5-0, 4-0) to a victory over Bethany (2-3, 2-2) in the PAC. Presidents’ Andrew Wolf caught a career-high 12 passes for 135 yards and caught his nation-leading 13th touchdown of the season.

No. 18 Case Western Reserve 35 Westminster 14 — South Fayette grad Drew Saxton threw for 330 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Spartans (4-0, 3-0) over Westminster (3-2, 3-1) in a PAC matchup. The Titans took a 14-7 lead in the second quarter on Shamon Walker’s 1-yard touchdown run, but Case Western Reserve scored the game’s final 28 points.
