An upset loss to Cal (Pa.) Saturday night sent IUP plummeting down the national rankings.
The Crimson Hawks (4-1, 1-1 PSAC) went from No. 2 to No. 14 in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches Top 25 after a 36-24 road loss to Cal in the 10 th annual Coal Bowl game at Adamson Stadium.
Cal (3-2, 2-0) scored 26 points in the second half for a come-from-behind victory. It was IUP’s first regular season loss in 21 games. Its last defeat also came against Cal, 31-18, in 2016.
The new national top 5 consists of: 1. Minnesota State (5-0); 2. Grand Valley State (5-0); 3. Ferris State (5-0); 4. Midwestern State (5-0); and 5. West Georgia (5-0).
