Saint Vincent bowling to join AMCC
An area college conference is picking up a spare.
The Saint Vincent College women’s bowling program next season will join the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference — the only NCAA Division III bowling conference in the country.
The Bearcats added the sport in 2017 and began play less than a year later.
The Bearcats, who are coached by Jeff Zidek and play home matches at Hillview Lanes in Greensburg, are set to return three sophomores, including standout Dani Koehler, and seven freshmen.
SVC finished with a 25-26 record in their debut season.
The AMCC hopes to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2019.
Other schools in the conference are: Hilbert, Medaille, Mount Aloysius, New Jersey City University, Penn State Altoona, Penn State Behrend and Pitt-Bradford.
