IUP women’s hoops moves to No. 2
Barely tested in eight games this season, the IUP women’s basketball team moved into the No. 2 spot in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.
It is the highest regular-season national ranking in program history.
The Crimson Hawks (8-0, 3-0 PSAC West) have been one of the most dominant teams in the country. They are averaging 83.9 points per game and carry a winning margin of 37.9.
They have scored 100 or more points twice.
Union (9-0), from Jackson, Tenn., holds the No. 1 spot, garnering 24 first-place votes. Union was a Final Four team last season.
IUP, another national semifinalist last year, received three first-place votes. The Crimson Hawks are No. 1 in the Atlantic Region poll.
The remaining top-5 teams in the WBCA rankings are No. 3 West Texas A&M (8-0), No. 4 Drury (9-0), and Bentley (10-0) at No. 5.
Cal U (8-0) is ranked 14th.
