Steelers receiver Antonio Brown Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. swap jerseys after a game Dec. 4, 2016, at Heinz Field.

In “First Call” Friday, a coach calls his own team “a dumpster fire.” Will OBJ impact AB? And Marc-Andre Fleury sharpens his goal-scoring touch.

OBJ impacting AB

Some are wondering if the Antonio Brown trade market may be impacted by a deal surrounding another outspoken wide receiver.

It’s Odell Beckham Jr. of the Giants. Jay Glazer predicted a trade of OBJ this offseason in The Athletic. On the one hand, that opens up another potential destination for Brown in New York. On the other, why would they swap out one problem for another?

The question also exists that if Beckham Jr. is to get traded, would he command more in return than Brown? Or does this raise the stakes for the Steelers?

Mentor Marc

Marc-Andre Fleury got rave reviews for his mentorship of Matt Murray while he was a Penguin. It appears he is doing the same for Malcolm Subban in Las Vegas.

This video caught Fleury helping Subban with some of his puck handling, and Fleury played the role of a dump-and-chase skater.

Eh, who are we kidding? We all know this is just Fleury living his dream of shooting a puck into the net as a forward, and he is picking on Subban to do it.

He said what?

You know how the Steelers bristle when anyone calls their team a “circus” or “Team Turmoil?”

Well, at least one other coach is admitting it regarding his own team. Look at the New Orleans Pelicans. They recently have dealt with the wild trade rumors and speculative madness surrounding Anthony Davis.

In the wake of a surprising win over Oklahoma City last night, coach Alvin Gentry referred to his own team as a “dumpster fire.”

The Pelicans became even more of a sideshow during the victory. Davis got what appeared to be a shoulder contusion, and he apparently left the building entirely with his agent.

Going college crazy

Pittsburgh’s college hoops scene is busy tomorrow.

Duquesne starts the day at home against George Washington at noon. The Dukes won the first game between the schools in overtime on the road 91-85. They are looking to bounce back from a 73-72 road loss to La Salle.

Pitt is up next at 4:30 p.m. The Panthers host No. 22 Virginia Tech. Jeff Capel’s team has lost eight in a row.

Robert Morris closes out the night on the road at 7 p.m. The Colonials are in Loretto to battle St. Francis (Pa.). They have dropped four of five, including a 76-72 decision at Mount St. Mary’s on Thursday.

Holy hockey!

The Robert Morris hockey team is on the road, too. The Colonials are in Worcester, Mass., to face Holy Cross on Friday and Saturday.

Derek Schooley’s team is trying to find traction before the playoffs start, having struggled of late. They have dropped five in a row.

RMU and the Crusaders split a pair of games at the Island Sports Center earlier this year, both by 2-0 scores.

The Colonials eliminated Holy Cross from the playoffs each of the last two seasons.
