Maybe this isn’t exactly why GoFundMe was created.

People — presumably Buffalo Bills fans — started a GoFundMe page to raise money to help quarterback Nathan Peterman leave town.

Peterman played for Pitt during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, helping the Panthers to consecutive 8-5 seasons and throwing for 308 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in the upset of national champion Clemson.

But he’s struggled as a pro, throwing multiple interceptions in four of his eight games, including five against the Los Angeles Chargers last year.

He was drafted by the Bills with a fifth-round selection in 2017 and was thrust into a starting role as a rookie. But he clearly wasn’t their quarterback of the future after they used the No. 7 overall pick this year on Josh Allen.

Allen wasn’t ready, so Peterman became the starter again this season, losing the job and regaining it after injuries to Allen (elbow) and 35-year-old Derek Anderson (concussion).

With the Bills, Peterman has thrown three touchdown passes, 12 interceptions and completed only 52.3 percent of his passes.

All of this must come as a shock to Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden, who told Peterman before the 2017 draft: “Someone is making a mistake not drafting you.”

Gruden, an NFL analyst for ESPN at the time, doubled down on those remarks in a piece he wrote for ESPN.com.

Bills fans are not amused by Peterman’s lack of progress, which led to the GoFundMe page. Few are taking it seriously. Only $107 of its $1 million goal has been pledged in nearly a month.
