Penguins player developement coach Bill Guerin talks about the Penguins' new faces, team chemistry and being a part of the Pens' organization.
Q: What advice would you give Jarome Iginla about playing with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin?
A: First of all, he doesn't need much advice from me. If I were to give him advice, I'd say be yourself and play your game. He's a helluva hockey player. He's had great success doing his thing. He needs to continue that. The mix is good. From what he offers to what they offer, it's a good match. It's hard coming to a new team. You want to please everybody. But the best thing to do is to be yourself and play your game.
Q: How exciting is it for you to still play a role in this organization?
A:For me, it's fantastic. I love it here. That's why I came back. I love this organization. It's top-notch from the top on down. I'm learning a lot from a lot of great people. (General manager Ray (Shero) and (assistant GM) Jason (Botterill) put me in a lot of great positions to see what happens behind the scenes. I've learned so much in the time I've been here.
Q: Is developing chemistry going to be an issue for the Penguins with all the new faces?
A: I don't have any concerns. Jarome, Brenden (Morrow) and Douglas (Murray) are all coming from one organization. Jussi (Jokinen) has played on a couple. But they've all played on different teams, they've all played in World Cups and in the Olympics. They've had great success.
Q: Do you wish you could play with the Penguins as currently constructed?
A: Do I ever. It kills me every day. But it's great to look out there and see the group of guys that Ray has put together. But yes, it kills me. If I could go out there and play with those guys, it would be unbelievable.
