“I told a friend that came up here today to take in the game, that Beale was putting one out of here today,” Kiski Valley coach David Montgomery said. “They were hanging too many fastballs from the belt up, and their starting pitcher didn’t survive the first (inning).”

Tyler Grosholz went 3 for 5 and scored three runs. Jordan Weaver had two singles, scored twice and had two sacrifice flies for Kiski Valley.

Kiski Valley 4, Meridian 0 — Kiski Valley’s Shane Sleberich hit a leadoff triple scored on a Connor Smotzer sacrifice fly to kick-start No. 3 seed Kiski Valley’s shutout of No. 8 Meridian in the second round of the loser’s bracket of the Butler County American Legion Tournament at Kiski Area High School.

Kiski Valley (16-5) advanced to play the East Butler/Saxonburg winner Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.
