Blawnox Community Association to host adult softball tournament
One of Blawnox’s most respected youth coaches and commissioners passed away last Dec. 19, but he isn’t being forgotten.
Bill Novak, whose passion was to give back to the community largely is credited with breathing life into the Blawnox youth baseball leagues.
He also coached youth basketball and was the commissioner of the Blawnox Community Association for many years. He will be remembered for his dedication to the BCA’s youth baseball and softball leagues.
To honor his tireless efforts, the BCA will hold the inaugural Bill Novak Adult Co-Ed Memorial Softball Tournament from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. July 23-24, at Blawnox Community Park.
There will be a memorial ceremony kickoff at 7:45 a.m. July 23. Players must be 18 or older, and each team must have a minimum of eight players and no more than 12 players. Each team must have a minimum of four female players. Cost is $200 per team, and there is a team deposit of $100 due by July 9.
There also will be basket raffles, prizes, 50/50, memorabilia and concessions available. All proceeds will benefit the BCA’s youth baseball and softball programs. To register and for full event details, visit blawnoxbaseball.org/fundraisers.
