Daily News roundup: Klingensmith Insurance tops Steel Towne
Klingensmith Insurance raced to a 4-0 lead and held on for a 5-2 victory over Steel Towne Inn in Daily News League action Saturday.
Max Vickerman went six innings and allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out 10 to pick up the win. Andrew Krull gave up a pair of hits in the seventh but was able to pick up his first save of the year.
Shaun Murray did most of the damage at the plate for Klingensmith Insurance; he went 3 for 3, including a double, with three RBI. Dayne Holland, Matt Corner and Krull added a pair of singles to lead the Blue Jays’ 11-hit attack.
Kevin Hutchinson went five innings and allowed nine hits in picking up the loss. Steel Towne got two hits from Ryon Rocco and Antonio Palangio.
Quinn Construction 7, Clancy’s Pub 0 — Anthony Garofalo improved to 2-0 on the year as he surrendered two hits and no runs over six innings to help the Mudcats win their fourth straight to climb within 1 1⁄2 games of first-place Bowser. Quinn scored five runs off Clancy’s Pub starter Andy Hromoko in the top of the first.
Run-scoring singles by A.J. Olasz, Dom Francia, Ryan Kandsberger and Ryan Bytzura staked the Mudcats to a 5-0 lead. Francia went 3 for 4, and Bytzura added two singles.
