The Freeport 9-10 Little League all-stars used a big first inning to take control of its District 26 championship game July 11.
Ten runs in the first inning led to a rout and the championship.
Freeport was at it again Tuesday evening against Carmichaels in the Section 2 double-elimination tournament in Mercer.
The team jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning and went on to score an 18-9 victory.
Gavin Tola led the offensive attack with two triples, a double and six RBIs.
Ethan Crooks and Carson Kane combined for the pitching victory, and second baseman Bryson Paga helped the victory with a strong defensive play.
Freeport began Tuesday’s action by completing a suspended game against District 2 champion Greenville-Hermitage. The teams finished five innings Monday with the score tied 10-10.
Freeport took an 11-10 lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI groundout by Kason Barker, but Greenville-Hermitage tallied two in the bottom of the sixth for the victory.
Gage Blystone tripled and drove in three, and Trey Schreckengost and Max Zigo doubled.
Freeport will have a rematch with Greenville-Hermitage in an elimination game Wednesday at 6 p.m. to see who will take on undefeated Norwin (2-0) for the section championship.
