• Moraine State Park is hosting a Fall Foliage Kayak Float from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday. Participants will meet at Upper 528 Boat Launch before joining the park naturalist for a kayak paddle that will provide an interesting look into the changing colors of nature for the season. Must be 12 or older, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Kayak and gear is provided. Registration opens Sep. 26. Call 724-368-8811.

• Forbes State Forest is offering a Campfire Program at 7 p.m. Friday. Participants will join a forest naturalist to learn the ins and outs of safely building and maintaining a campfire. Email rmahony@pa.gov or call 724-259-2201.

• Venture Outdoors is offering a Tandem Canoe Skills class from 9 a.m.-12 p.m Saturday at North Park. Participants will learn paddling techniques from instructors John and Kate Powell before practicing on land and then in the water. Program costs $20, canoes are included in the fee. • Ohiopyle State Park is holding a Volunteer Trail Day from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Participants will meet with other park volunteers to clear trails and other projects within the park. Bring appropriate clothing, lunch and water. Email bawallace@pa.gov to register.

• Forbes State Forest is hosting a Fall Foliage Hike at 11 a.m. Saturday. Participants will meet with a forest naturalist before going on an intermediate-level hike that will highlight the sights of the autumn season. Email rmahony@pa.gov or call 724-259-2201.

• Forbes State Forest is offering a Campfire Cooking program at 6 p.m. on Oct. 22. Participants will join the forest naturalist and the Three Rivers Dutch Oven Society in order to learn outdoor cooking methods. Email rmahony@pa.gov or call 724-259-2201.

• Ohiopyle State Park is holding a Rise of the Falls Hike from 1-2:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. Participants will meet at the main floor lobby of the Visitors Center before going on a moderate 3-mile walk that will explore the formation and migration of the park's two most popular waterfalls. • The National Aviary is hosting the Wings & Wildlife Benefit Auction and Art Show from 6-10 p.m. Nov. 4-6. Participants will be able to enjoy or purchase a jury-selected array of nature-inspired art at the show, with photographer Dave DiCello acting as the featured artist this year. Tickets to the auction on Nov. 4 cost $100, and tickets to the art show on Nov. 5-6 cost $14 for adults and $13 for seniors and children's tickets. • Jennings Environmental Center is holding a Homeschool CSI event from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Nov. 8. Participants ages 5 and older will use a home version of a CSI Investigator Kit to create a bird-related citizen science project. Cost of the program is $3 per person. Enrollment is limited.
