The Canucks' Daniel Sedin ties up the Penguins' Beau Bennett in the first period Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Consol Energy Center.

Former Penguins first-round pick Beau Bennett is taking his talents to Russia.

Bennett, 26, signed with Dinamo Minsk of Russia's KHL, the team announced Friday.

A first-round pick of the Penguins in 2010, Bennett struggled to reach his potential in large part due to a series of injuries. He amassed 16 goals and 45 points in 129 games over four seasons with the Penguins before being sent to New Jersey for a third-round pick in a 2016 draft-day trade.

Bennett spent last season in the St. Louis Blues organization. He turned in strong numbers in the AHL, recording 57 points in 60 games for the Chicago Wolves, but went scoreless in six games in the NHL.
