Penguins fans rally at Market Square before Game 2

Penguins fans were treated to T-shirts, an appearance by two former players and, naturally, a reference to a dead fish Wednesday during a pep rally in Market Square.

"The dude had a catfish in his underwear," said Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto, drawing a roar from the crowd.

The mayor was referencing the Nashville fan who fullfilled a Predators fan tradition during Game 1 on Monday of the Stanley Cup Final in Pittsburgh by tossing a catfish onto the ice.

Several hundred fans turned out to cheer on the Penguins for Game 2 tonight at 8 at PPG Paints Arena. The Penguins take a 1-0 series lead into the game.

Jerral Wolford, 32, of McKees Rocks and Randall Collins, 56, of the North Side said they couldn't pass up a chance to support the Penguins.

"They're a good team," Wolford said. "I support the Pens, not just now, but all year long."

In addition to Peduto and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, former Penguins Colby Armstrong and Tyler Kennedy made appearances. Longtime broadcaster Paul Steigerwald served as emcee.

"We want the Cup! We want the Cup," Armstrong shouted along with the crowd.
