Setting the odds for which Penguins player could be 1st to hoist cup

Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury watches action from the bench during the first period in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Senators Friday, May 19, 2017, at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.

When Sidney Crosby took the Stanley Cup from commissioner Gary Bettman last June in San Jose, he immediately handed it to defenseman Trevor Daley, whose mother was gravely ill. If the Penguins win in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Sunday night in Nashville, Crosby again will have to decide who gets the hoist the trophy first. Here are the Vegas odds for the top contenders.*

MARC-ANDRE FLEURY (5-2): Crosby's long-time teammate looks to be nearing the end of his tenure with the Penguins. His contributions in the first two rounds were great.

RON HAINSEY (3-1): Hainsey is 36 years old and previous to this season never had appeared in a playoff game, let alone won a Stanley Cup.

EVGENI MALKIN (4-1): Getting the Cup first might ease the sting of not being named one of the top 100 players of all-time at the All-Star break.

CHRIS KUNITZ (5-1): Crosby's perennial linemate could be playing his last game with the Penguins as he hits unrestricted free agency in July.

KRIS LETANG (5-1): A Cup handoff would be a pick-me-up for a cornerstone of the franchise who has fallen on hard times medically.

MATT CULLEN (8-1): The 40-year-old center has hinted that he might be retiring. A Cup handoff would be a great way to go out.

JAKE GUENTZEL (12-1): It would be unusual to give the Cup to a rookie first, but Guentzel's never won one, and he's been an integral part of the playoff run.

MARK STREIT (15-1): Technically, the oldest player on the roster who has yet to win a Stanley Cup.

FIELD (20-1): Phil Kessel is well liked in the locker room. … Conor Sheary has fought through a playoff slump. … Patric Hornqvist, Nick Bonino and Brian Dumoulin have played through postseason injuries. … Justin Schultz's resurgence has been one of the year's top stories. … No one has sacrificed his body like shot blocker Ian Cole. … Olli Maatta is likeable and has faced multiple injuries in his career.
