Pirates minor league report: Friday, June 15, 2018

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 35-29) lost 5-4 to Columbus (Indians). 1B Jose Osuna (.341) had another big day at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. 2B Adam Frazier (.188) and RF Jordan Luplow (.257) added doubles, with Frazier bringing in a run. C Ryan Lavarnway (.309) went 2 for 2 with a two-run homer and walked three times. Starting RHP Tyler Eppler (6-3, 3.29 ERA) took the loss, pitching five innings, giving up five earned runs with two strikeouts.

Next: Saturday at Columbus (Indians), 7:15 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 33-28) won 10-1 over New Hampshire (Blue Jays). RF Bralin Jackson (.316) went 3 for 5 with two doubles, a two-run homer and four RBIs. LF Bryan Reynolds (.224) and 2B Stephen Alemais (.271) went 2 for 4 with a double. Reynolds finished with one RBI, Alemais with two and a stolen base. Starting LHP Cam Vieaux (2-0, 1.29 ERA) had a quality start, pitching seven innings, giving up one earned run with five strikeouts.

Next: Saturday vs. New Hampshire, 6 p.m.

BRADENTON (High-A, 33-29) is on all-star break.

Next: Monday vs. Clearwater (Phillies), 6:30 p.m.

WEST VIRGINIA (Low-A, 36-28) won 8-2 over Delmarva (Orioles). CF Lolo Sanchez (.214) went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI in the nine spot. 2B Rodolfo Castro (.224) and LF Chris Sharpe (.269) had doubles, with Castro adding two RBIs and Sharpe three. Starting RHP Max Kranick (1-3, 4.62 ERA) got the win, pitching five shutout innings, and struck out three.

Next: Saturday vs. Delmarva (Orioles), 6:05 p.m.

WEST VIRGINIA (Short Season-A, 0-1) lost 9-8 to Mahoning Valley (Indians) in 10 innings. Five players — Raul Siri, Jhona Hererra, Edison Latigua, Paul Brands and Melvin Jimenez — had two hits each. All but Hererra had an RBI. Starter Manasa worked six innings, giving up one earned run. Francis Del Orbe suffered a blown save and the loss (0-1).

Next: Saturday at Mahoning Valley, 7:05 p.m.

Independent

WASHINGTON (Frontier League, 21-10) won 1-0 game at Southern Illinois. Thomas Dorminy (6-1, 2.31) pitched eight innings of two-hit ball, and Zach Strecker (1-0, 0.00) finished the three-hitter with a scoreless ninth. R Collins (.303) drove in the only run.
