Hair Cutch: Pirates superstar lops off his locks for charity
BRADENTON, Fla. — New look, same Cutch.
Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen on Wednesday shed his signature dreadlocks and revealed his new clean-cut style.
On a self-made video released via social media, McCutchen said, “Time to cut the locks. No big reason, just time for a change.”
McCutchen was styled by a barber brought in from Tampa, Fla. According to McCutchen's website, the shorn hair will be auctioned via MLB.com with proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities.
Wednesday was the Pirates' second off day of spring training. McCutchen is listed in the lineup for Thursday afternoon's game against the Atlanta Braves at McKechnie Field.
McCutchen had been mulling the new look for a while. In February 2014, McCutchen told Trib Total Media, “It's good to have an image. I have the hair, but eventually I'm gonna cut it.”
