Pirates notebook: Autographs to come at a cost at PirateFest
For the first time, fans attending PirateFest won’t have an admission fee but will be required to pay for players’ autographs.
Fans 14 and under wishing to obtain autographs still can do so at no cost.
PirateFest will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Dec. 13 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 14 at David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown, the team announced Wednesday.
Tickets to autograph sessions will be sold prior to each 90-minute event. Each session will be limited to 200 fans.
Tickets can be purchased with a $20 donation to Pirates Charities at pirates.com/piratefest, the team announced. Details will be available Monday at that same Web address.
Fans also are encouraged to donate a new toy at the Pirates Charities booth during the two-day festival. Those 14 and under who donate a toy will a Pirates Charities ornament (while supplies last).
PirateFest, an indoor carnival featuring games, prizes and baseball clinics, is entering its 25th year. Among the highlights this year will be a Q&A session Dec. 14 with members of the 1960 World Series-winning team.

6-game plan on sale
The Pirates announced a six-game ticket plan will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
The holiday plan allows fans to build a six-game package by selecting two Gold Games, two Black Games and two White games from the 2015 schedule. The six-game pack also comes with a Pirates ski cap. For details, visit pirates.com/holiday or call 1-800-buy-bucs.
The Pirates also announced the PNC Park team store will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, when there will be 30 percent discount off regularly priced merchandise. The team store will have new hours through the holiday season (Friday–Dec. 23).
The store will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
